Hi!
I have a fundamental question about how the force is rendered with H3D. I fear that i perhaps misunderstood a concept behind H3D.
I don’t have a Phantom or any other commercially available device to try H3D. I want to use a device that we use here at the university for research.
I programmed a custom device driver, so that through the updateDeviceValues() the position and through sendOutput() the force is is passed from and to the device and HAPI. It seemed to work at first. But i have a Problem:
When i move the Haptic into a object (a plain wall) in X direction, the force i get is somthing in -X direction. That is good.
But. When i move it against a wall in Y direction, i still get a force in -X direction. That is bad.
The walls are SmoothSurfaces. Did i overlook something. How is the force calculated. How is the Opientation of the objects and the Haptic device important. I did’t find any fundamentals in the H3D-Manual about how the force is actually calculated.
Thanks for your help, I hope my problem is not too confusing. I may just have overlooked something small 🙂
